The earth has been overwhelmed by a species that take over the minds of their human hosts while inhabiting their bodies. But Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie Stryder’s body, is facing one difficulty she didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refuses to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer’s thoughts with visions of the man she loves—Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body’s desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she’s never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both want in a riveting novel that may be the first to feature a love triangle involving only two bodies.

I loved "The Host"! I listened to it on audio book. As soon as I was finished with it, I started listening to it again. After listening to it twice, I let my sister borrow it. I am afraid that I want find a replacement set for the same price I got it on Black Expressions. I keep looking. Listen to it. You want reqret it if you liked this author's style.

Entertaining, like all of Meyer's work seems to be but the characters were shallow and mostly unlikeable; violent and bossy men, overly self-sacrificing and wimpish woman, jealous mean girls and . Suicide presented as a loving act, A woman in an abusive relationship presented as an innocent imbued with selfless true love. Made me a bit queasy but not enough to reject the book. And the end was sort of satisfying though disturbing on a lot of deeper levels. All just like the Twilight series.

The Twilight series is my all time favorite of 'books' but I liked the Host. At first, didn't think I was going to like it, but it really catches your attention after about the 3rd chapter...after about the 5th chapter, I could not put it down! It is a long story, but well worth the 'read' - not like anything else I have ever read!

I loved this book and I hope she writes a sequel

After reading the Twilight series was surprised at the slow start of this book, but after getting into it couldn't put it down. Worth the money and time! Long book!
