A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations

Two of Charles Dickens’ beloved classics are bundled together in one deluxe paperback edition! A Tale of Two Cities is the story of two men; Charles Darnay, an exiled French aristocrat, and Sydney Carton, a brilliant English lawyer; who are both vying for the heart of Lucie Manette, the daughter of a political prisoner. Each character is soon drawn against his will to the bloodstained streets of Paris…

In Great Expectactions, a series of events change the orphaned Pip’s life forever, including an encounter with an escaped convict in a graveyard; a summons to meet the bitter Miss Havisham and the generosity of a mysterious benefactor. Both of these masterpieces find Dickens’ writing at the peak of its powers!

Give me a break!
January 13, 2011

This just seems to me to be another one of Oprah's money making gimmicks. These two classics are easily found at any bookstore new or used for a few dollars. I can go to a used bookstore and get a cheap paperback for a mere $2 or a nice old hardback for less than $5! Or ask some kid who had to buy it for a class who will probably be happy to give it over for free. Other than that, these two novels are great reads and a highly recommend them, just don't waste your money on Oprah's fancy edition.

love it!

Loved the stories, loved this particular edition, loved the 'jagged' edges of the pages, made it seem authentic and old fashioned, which I think they were striving for. I had not read these before, and wasnt sure about reading 'old' novels, but it didnt take long to get engrossed in the stories. This edition, HIGHLY recommended

Classic novel; shoddy workmanship

Was a deal offered through the holidays, that I should have turned down. The pages of the book are all uneven and appear ragged. Looks like a "second"... dislike.
